Milwaukee, Wisconsin (April 7, 2011) – Jeff Courtney is ready to return to the racetrack with a busy month of April that will more than make up for the long off season. Courtney is set to partner up with Barry Ellis and Ranger Sports Racing for this weekend’s Grand Am Barber 200 race at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Courtney is also planning on running the full Viper Cup season schedule, approximately 70% of the World Challenge races, along with some extra surprises throughout the 2011 racing season.
“I really need to thank the people that help make all this happen,” said Courtney. “Thanks to KENDA Tires for coming on board with me for another year, Jimmy and Eric Yang have been terrific supporters and have really stepped up again for me. If it were not for the consistent support from KENDA, I would be hard-pressed to put this program together. I would also like to thank the rest of my sponsors, RecStuff.com, JG Wheels and Coins of America.”
In just a few days, Courtney returns to the track alongside friend and co-driver, Barry Ellis, behind the wheel of the No. 88 Ranger Sport Racing Porsche 997. “I’m very excited to run in the Grand Am with Barry,” said Courtney. Courtney and Ellis raced together back in the old Panoz GT series and remember challenging each other on the track. “We never had the chance to partner up like this before and I’m really looking forward to running an endurance race like this.” The 17-turn course winds for 2.3 miles, plenty of twists and turns and should make for challenging two-hour, 45-minute race.
Courtney will barely have time to re-group after the Grand Am Barber 200 as he has plans to run up to three more events this month in two different series; including the World Challenge event at the end of the month.
On April 30th, Courtney returns to the Sports Car Wars in the SCCA World Challenge series at the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix in Utah behind the wheel of his own No. 99 JCR Motorsports Dodge Viper ACR-X. “I’m looking forward to seeing how competitive our ACR-X will be in the GT field,” said Courtney.
