Milwaukee, Wisconsin (May 13, 2011)—Jeff Courtney will kick off the 2011 Viper Cup season at the historic Sebring International Raceway this weekend, May 13th-15th, in the #99 JCR Motorsports/KENDA Tire Dodge Viper ACR-X. The 10-race spec series featuring the Dodge Viper ACR-X will be held at five different road courses around the country.
“I’m really looking forward to the 2011 Viper Cup season,” said Courtney. “We are excited to kick off the season at Sebring, it is not only a historical, but a very demanding racetrack. We anticipate some great racing and there should be no shortage of challenges, as it is expected to be in the mid-to-high 90s with a chance of rain every day. We are coming here expecting to be very competitive with the addition of the well-respected race engineer Greg Fordahl, along with the rest of the JCR Motorsports crew.”Sebring is a 3.7 mile, 17-turn circuit and is the oldest road course in North America; portions of the track were originally a WWII B-17 training base.
“Although it has been a few years since I’ve raced here,” said Courtney. “I’ve had some past success here and I’m looking forward to racing this unique circuit again.”“I’m also happy to welcome Discount Tires onboard as a support sponsor, thanks to Michael Zuieback,” said Courtney. The Viper Cup races are double-headers, so the team must prepare for not one, but two races over the weekend. “We are planning on both working and racing hard this weekend,” said Courtney.
