Jeff Courtney Racing and TRG partnered with co-driver Madison Snow in the Orion Energy Systems 245 at Road America

Milwaukee, WI – Jeff Courtney Racing and TRG partnered with co-driver Madison Snow last weekend in the #68 Kenda Tire GTC Porsche 911 to compete in the Orion Energy Systems 245 at Road America.

The race on Sunday was Courtney’s first-ever start in the American Le Mans series presented by Patrón Tequila.

It was also the first time ALMS and Grand-Am shared the course together on a Road America joint weekend.

“I am happy we got some great exposure for our sponsors and even though the weather didn’t cooperate, a big crowd still came out and supported us,” said Courtney. “We learned a lot in the qualifying session and I knew we would be up to pace in the race. The team was on point this weekend and so was Madison – hats off to the solid effort.”

Courtney qualified and started the race in wet conditions.

As the race got underway in the rain, some parts of the course showed signs of drying up. Kevin Buckler, TRG team owner and strategist, was on the radio with Courtney early and they decided to make the switch to dry tires under a double-caution period.

During the pit stop the team made a driver change, putting in Madison Snow.

After taking the lead and continuing to look strong into the second half of the race, the team ran into mechanical troubles with the gear linkage that would end hopes for a podium finish.

The #68 Kenda Tire Porsche came into the pits and the crew fixed the problem and got back out quickly. Unfortunately, a frustrating speeding violation was issued as a result of the speed limiter not working – due to the car being stuck in sixth gear.

“At the time it was a brilliant strategy call,” said Courtney. “We were the only car to switch to dry tires that early in the race. If it were not for the gear linkage issue we might have had this conversation on the podium.”

In the end, the Kenda Tire Porsche finished the 62 lap race with a solid 6th place.

“Jeff, Madison and the entire team did a great job at Road America and we couldn’t have been more proud of the result,” said Eric Yang, Automotive Marketing Manager, Kenda Tire. “Jeff’s familiarity with Road America coupled with Madison’s knowledge of racing Porsches created the perfect combo. We look forward to the duo racing together in the future!”
