JCR Motorsports Claims a Pair of Podium Finishes at Road America

An exciting homecoming for JCR Motorsports yielded two Third Place finishes in Pirelli World Challenge GT-A Rounds 7 and 8 for driver Jeff Courtney in the No. 99 Kenda/RecStuff.com Audi R8 Ultra.

Qualifying for Friday’s Round 7 was cancelled due to weather; therefore the field was set by point’s standings and placed Courtney in the seventh position on the GT-A grid. The race was chaotic from the start and Courtney narrowly avoided a wreck on the first lap. At the end of the 50-minute green flag race Courtney had achieved his third podium and second third place finish of the season.

“Unfortunately, missing the Detroit races dropped us in the point standings which in turn hurt us here by pushing us back on the starting grid!” said Courtn94ec6243-2fa9-4a10-bc88-d8cc863e0809ey

The grid for Saturday’s Round 8 race was set by fast lap times that placed Courtney in the third position on the starting grid. A massive GT wreck early in the race caused a full course caution for the majority of the 50-minute sprint race. Courtney was able to move up to second and then battle for the lead on the late race restart, while fighting for the lead with one of the Ferrari’s Courtney was pushed wide in turn 3 and unable to make the pass stick and ultimately falling back to a 3rd place finish.

“We had a shot to win on Saturday, unfortunately the Ferrari ran us out of real estate in turn 3 and that also allowed the Lamborghini by, it was a semi sweet 3rd place finish!”  said Courtney.

In addition to racing, JCR Motorsports played host to family, friends and employees of co-primary sponsor RecStuff.com, who were on-hand throughout the weekend passing out t-shirts and other gifts to race fans.
Courtney’s Audi R8 Ultra honored Camp Hometown Heroes for both races in hopes of bringing attention to the organization which honors the children of fallen soldiers.  Courtney pledged to make donations to the organization based on podium finishes.

“The paddock had a great atmosphere because of the RecStuff.com guys. Also, we are honored to try and help bring attention to Camp Hometown Heroes and are more than happy to send them a check for our podium finishes. Hopefully we raised some awareness for a great cause” said Courtney.
